It’s the time that authors and poets describe as …“the years last, loveliest smile” and “a mosaic of all the seasons” with some going so far as to say “Every leaf speaks to me, fluttering from the Autumn tree!” Whilst we at Humble Country HQ do love a good leaf kicking Autumn dog walk, it’d be fair to say right now that just for the rain to stop would bring great joy!
For us, the end of Summer and start of Autumn is marked by our wonderful Humble Country marquee slotting neatly into the fabulous local Thame Food Festival in Oxfordshire and once again this years’ appearance didn’t disappoint. Over 18,000 visitors from across the Home Counties flocking to a rather windswept but highly successful Autumn event! Our exhibitors did a fabulous job once again to stage beautiful stands and we enjoyed dressing the marquee with pumpkins of all sizes and colours and Amber our local flower growing partner at Howe Farm, did a wonderful job in adorning her stunning flowers everywhere! We had another successful time and its especially pleasing as its on home turf and an event which Humble Country will be supporting again in Autumn 2020 (26-27 September 2020)
With a little time in hand before our preparations begin for our Winter date – the fantastic Festive Fayre at Hampton Court Palace – we get to soak up Autumn (and I have literally been soaked many times!) and enjoy the season for all it has to offer…personally I always enjoy the first time the wood burner gets lit, the lighting of fabulous coloured candles that I have accumulated in the year and the general cosy-ing of our home as the chill sets in a little. I think all home lovers relish the chance to drape throws on armchairs don’t we? Draw curtains again and enjoy cooking up some warming suppers and Sunday roasts? I love to use a new oven dish or wrap up in a new blanket that I have chosen from one of our wonderful small businesses in the Humble Country collection…a perk of ‘the job’ is getting to know small businesses from all over the Country that I wouldn’t necessarily have heard of had it not been for their attraction to Humble Country.
With just 8 weeks to go until Humble Country takes over the cobbled courtyard at the magical venue that is Hampton Court Palace, we begin to put finishing touches to the line-up of exhibitors who are joining us there for 3 days of Christmas shopping. Each fayre we do attracts a slightly different collection of exhibitors, with some doing two or three of our fayres with us which is always lovely as it’s a chance to really get to know them and their ranges. It takes great will power not to shop from them all! Come and see us at Hampton Court Palace and get inspiration and ideas for making your home Winter ready – it’ll be prime Christmas shopping time, 2 weeks before the big day and all in THE MOST magical of settings too…x
